It was announced that Idris Elba is going to star in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC at the 2022 Game Awards.

Cyberpunk 2077 is no stranger to bringing in A-list celebrities to star in its story, with Keanu Reeves taking on the mantle of Johnny Silverhand in the game’s main campaign. Now actor and DJ Idris Elba will be joining for the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, Phantom Liberty.

Idris Elba to star in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

The Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 has been announced for a while, with previous trailers implying that Cyberpunk protagonist V would be taking up service for the New United States government.

Idris Elba is the new star joining Cyberpunk 2077 as Solomon Reed, a member of the FIA, one of New United States of America’s intelligence agencies. It seems like after a political disaster, V and Solomon Reed will be working alongside one another in order to somehow serve the NUSA government.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be releasing at some point in 2023, being the first proper expansion to the Cyberpunk 2077 main game. After a rocky launch, Cyberpunk has managed to regain a lot of community faith with consistent performance updates and new content.

Phantom Liberty will have a lot of pressure to make a good debut, but the addition of Elba as a main character certainly seems promising, seeing Reaves and Elba play off one another in the dystopic future is a prospect that seems to excite many gamers.

More details are expected to emerge close to Phantom Liberty’s unannounced 2023 release date.
