How to change appearance in Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy has robust customization, allowing players to create characters that look just like them. The basic options are good, but there is an opportunity to improve the character’s appearance as you advance in the game.  The clothes in Hogwarts Legacy, better known as Gear, fall into six categories:

• Gloves
• Face (includes masks, glasses, and spectacles)
• Headwear (includes hats, berets, nightcaps, and sleeping caps)
• Neckwear (scarves)
• Robes and Cloaks
• Outfits (includes variations of the school uniform and other regalia)

Each item improves a determined stat. For example, the Autumn Jumper Uniform, which is part of the Outfits category, improves defense. All gear can be upgraded using materials like Jobberknoll feathers, Niffler fur, or toad warts. The higher the level, the higher the stats. At level three, this item grants over 18 points in defense.

In the menu, you can go to the Gear tab and change the outfit of your character. While this changes the clothes, the general appearance of your character doesn’t change. If you want to modify your haircut, eyes, and complexion, you must venture outside of Hogwarts.

How to change appearance in Hogwarts Legacy

The only way to change the appearance of your character is through Madam Snelling’s Tress Emporium located in Hogsmeade. On the map, the store is identified with a pair of scissors.

Madam Snelling can change the following features:

• Eyebrow color
• Eyebrow shape
• Scars and markings
• Eye color
• Complexion
• Freckles and moles
• Hair Color
• Hairstyle

These changes are not free. Players must pay 20 Galleons for each modification desired. It is a considerable investment, make sure you are happy with the character’s appearance at the beginning of the game.

Can I store Gear in Hogwarts Legacy?

As you advance through the game you will unlock more gear storage. However, it is not necessary to store unused gear. Some items have better stats than others. Ideally, you would keep the ones with better stats.
