How does the Sorting Hat work in Hogwarts Legacy?

2022’s hottest RPG will soon bring an official sorting ceremony to Harry Potter fans. But just how will the renowned process of sorting work in Hogwarts Legacy?

Fans of Harry Potter have been waiting for their acceptance letters since 1997. These fans will finally uncover their magical fantasies in a virtual universe curated by Avalanche Software. Hogwarts Legacy has created plenty of hype months before its official release, and players can’t wait to roam the magical hallways of Hogwarts. 

The foremost step for first-year students enrolled in Hogwarts is to be sorted into a house. In books, the complex sorting process is bestowed on the Sorting Hat, but the game will be different. Here’s how sorting will work in Hogwarts Legacy. 

Here’s how sorting works in Hogwarts Legacy  

Unlike in the wizarding books and movies, players will have the liberty to choose their own house. Whether they want to start school as a member of Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, or Slytherin will be left to them to decide independent of the Sorting Hat’s influence. 

In movies, the Sorting Hat would oversee sorting students into one of Hogwart’s four houses. Unless a student is a hatstall like the famed Harry Potter, the hat can read their minds in a matter of seconds to determine their most appropriate house. The students left it to the hat in the books and movies to decide their fate, but the official game will be different. 

Houses are important to Potterheads who’ve been using unofficial quizzes to resolve where they most belong. These quizzes take their habits, personalities, and other personal traits into account, just like the magical hat from the world of Harry Potter. The fans can now skip out on the official ritual with authority over their choice of house. In Hogwarts Legacy, the sorting ceremony will be similar to the movies with the iconic hat shouting its decision even as players select their own houses. 

Sorting is paramount as it governs your journey at Hogwarts, including which people you meet and nature of the evils you’re fighting. This importance means that it’s a great thing that players can pick their houses in the game. It’s unknown how exactly this decision will impact the game’s journey, but there’s no doubt that players will at least get to dress up in their chosen house’s colors.

What are the houses in Hogwarts Legacy? 

Hogwarts Legacy will feature the same houses as those found in the Harry Potter books and films. Players can pick between Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin while attending Hogwarts. This decision may impact the player’s journey through the game, so it’s important to choose wisely.
