Here’s what we know about Fallout 5 after Bethesda’s reveal

Fallout 5

Fallout 5 will be a reality for fans of the post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, open-world RPG series. Some day.

Fallout 76 is the latest Fallout to come out. The announcement in 2018 was met with excitement from Fallout players who would be able to come across other adventurers in an otherwise desolate wasteland for the first time.

But Fallout 76 failed to meet expectations, with the maps feeling largely empty and fans being underwhelmed with the lack of NPCs and reliance on collecting audio tapes instead.

Since then, fans have been longing for a Fallout game like New Vegas or Fallout 4 but Bethesda has been largely silent about this possibility. Until now.

Is Fallout 5 coming out soon?

Fallout 6 isn’t coming out any time soon, but is in the cards for Bethesda.

IGN recently interviewed Bethesda creative director Todd Howard about the studio’s plans for future games. This led Howard to reveal some interesting news for fans of their most beloved series.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is currently the main priority for developers, with Howard noting it’s already in pre-production. The next Fallout game will come out after that. Unfortunately, no timeline was given for Fallout 5 so it’s unclear when the game will be started or released as of yet.

Bethesda is currently wrapping up Starfield, which is set to come out in 2023. Then the company is moving to Elder Scrolls 6. There will be “other projects” as well, according to the interview. It wasn’t specified if these would be worked on before, during, or after Fallout 5, with Howard saying they would be working on them “from time to time.”

It’s safe to say that the game will not come out any time soon.

What will Fallout 5 gameplay be like?

With Fallout 5 not coming out in the near future, there is still no information available about the highly anticipated game. Developers do have a concept, however.

Howard has discussed a new installment in the Fallout series in the past. In 2021, he said that the team has a “one-pager” on Fallout 5 that details what they hope to do with the game.

So far, Fallout 5 is a complete mystery when it comes to its release date and gameplay. It will most likely be a one-player RPG again after backlash surrounding Fallout 76.
