Radagon is a central figure in Elden Ring lore and one of the game’s biggest bosses, but beating him doesn’t have to be especially hard.
All FromSoftware games are an internal battle with players to check their own greedy tendencies. While other games will give players carte blanche to land counter hints on a dodged attack, bosses in FromSoftware titles will often harshly punish anyone that just starts swinging without discipline.
Radagon is a prime example of that, with a simplistic moveset that’s made tough by great tracking and quick follow-up moves. Here’s how Elden Ring players can beat Radagon of the Golden Order.
The key to beating Radagon is to chip away at his health with small combinations, rather than looking to break him down quickly.
Top tips for new Dark Souls players after Elden Ring
Radagon has a relatively predictable move set, with big wind-ups and minimal deception. The trouble is that he has possibly the best tracking of any boss in the game. If the player dodges too early, Radagon will track them like a heatseeking missile for a big hit of damage. Too late, and they eat it anyway.
He’s made manageable by the fact that he won’t fake players out. Unlike Margit, Radagon doesn’t have fluid combos with hit confirms. His moves are mostly large, telegraphed, AOE slams. The only real mix-up Radagon has is a variant of the Hoarfrost Stomp if the player swings too wildly.Â
To beat Radagon and move onto the final boss of Elden Ring, players need to dodge his attacks, land one or two hits, and back off. Repeat this process until he runs out of health to seal up the win.
Radagon of the Golden Order does not have any weaknesses.Â
He is immune to sleep and bleed damage and resists Scarlet Rot, frostbite, and poison. In terms of damage types, he is resistant to holy. His poise can be broken, but he has a very high poise raiting making it difficult.
Unfortunately for Elden Ring players, there’s not really any shortcut or effective method for cheesing Radagon. Beating him is just a matter of learning his attacks, effectively rolling, and not getting greedy. Keep in mind that you’ll need plenty of resources left over, so mastering his move set is basically required.
