Nintendo has shown off several of Link’s exciting new abilities in Legends of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, here’s what we saw.

The series producer for Legend of Zelda, Eiji Aonuma, took fans through a gameplay demonstration of the Breath of the Wild sequel. In the gameplay demo, Aonuma showed off lots of new abilities for the series protagonist, Link. These new abilities will open up the already open world environment and allow for even more creativity for players undertaking the quest to defeat Ganondorf. Here are all of the new abilities we saw in this demo.

The first ability shown off in the demo is Recall, an ability that rewinds an object’s movement. In the demo, this is used to reverse the falling trajectory of a rock that plummets from a floating sky island. By standing on top of the rock before using recall, Link rides the rock all the way up to the sky island.

The next ability previewed is called Fuse and allows Link to stick objects together to form new tools. In the demo, Link combines a stick and a rock to make a makeshift hammer, as well as fusing consumable items into arrows to give them new abilities. One of the arrows follows the target for a guaranteed hit, while another uses ice to freeze enemies in place. There seem to be tons of possibilities for unique gear, thanks to Fuse.

The next ability is Ultrahand, which allows the player to stick items in the world together to create unique contraptions. Aonume uses it to fuse three logs together in the rough shape of a boat before attaching a fan to the back, creating a rudimentary vehicle that propels itself across the water.

The fourth and final ability shown off is Ascend, which allows Link to pop through the ceiling of locations. This can even be used on thick cave ceilings to make it all the way to the top. No more climbing mountains, just find a cave and swim through the rough to the top.

Those are all of the new abilities shown off in the gameplay demo, fans will have to wait to see more of what the new Legend of Zelda game will bring.
