GiantWaffle breaks Twitch record for most hours streamed in a month

After streaming for 19 hours per day every day for the entire month of November, Twitch streamer Andrew “GiantWaffle” Bodine has broken the record for most hours streamed in a single month. 

GiantWaffle ended November with almost 573 hours of streaming time, breaking Jackson “JayBigs” Bigsby’s previous record. JayBigs ended August with 569 hours streamed. During his month-long effort, GiantWaffle boasted 3 million hours watched and gained 10,000 subscribers. 

When GiantWaffle broke the record, his Twitch chat celebrated with fireworks. 

“Streamvember 2019 is complete. Time to sleep!” GiantWaffle tweeted, which was met with a lot of “congratulations” from his followers. 

Although the achievement is exciting, hopefully GiantWaffle is staying true to his word and getting a much needed rest. To break the record, the popular streamer admitted he only slept about four hours each night. He also set up cameras around his house so he could continue about his day while also getting in streaming hours. 

GiantWaffle’s Twitter remained silent for 10 hours before he decided to tweet again, saying, “I love sleep,” hinting that he had spent the last many hours finally catching some Zs. 

Back in August, JayBig called breaking the streaming record the “hardest and most fulfilling accomplishment of my life.” He also decided to become a full-time streamer soon after claiming the record. 

The record had belonged to Runescape player ItsArmand before JayBig broke it. He streamed 542 hours in one month, a goal he had set for himself “to see if I could finally hard commit to something insane.” 

For 22 days, ItsArmand only slept for four hours a night. 

While it may be tempting to break this record yourself, remember that not getting enough sleep is potentially detrimental to your health. Sleep deprivation can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack, heart failure, or stroke. Many adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep a night to function properly. Teens may need even more.
