G2 Esports started the LEC Summer Split with a dominating victory over Splyce.

G2 is not yet slowing down, as the Mid-Season Invitational champions are back in Berlin and ready to destroy the competition in the new split.

Despite not having much practice in the recent patch, G2 obliterated Splyce in a match in which top and mid laners Martin “Wunder” Hansen and Rasmus “Caps” Winther shined.

The early game was slow as G2 and Splyce took their time to size up the enemy without taking unnecessary risks. After 10 minutes and a first blood in the jungle by G2, Splyce punished with Marek “Humanoid” Brázdasolo killing Caps. That play would set the rest of the game into motion.

After the exchange, G2 decided to play more aggressively by recognizing that Splyce would not be able to punish any overextensions. On the contrary, every time Splyce showed any signs of life, G2 was there to hit back even harder.

Jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski on Jarvan IV was everywhere on the map, applying pressure and backing up his strong laners. As the game transitioned into the middle stages, the aggression from G2 just didn’t stop.

G2 pushed for the inhibitors, and no baron buff was necessary. Splyce couldn’t respond, even when Caps on Sylas stole Ryze’s ult and accidentally put two of his teammates into the enemy’s fountain. Caps and Wunder closed the game themselves after killing multiple Splyce champions.

On Saturday, G2 will face Origen for a rematch of the spring final. Splyce will go against Team Vitality with both teams desperate for a win in week one.
