Former T1 jungler Clid accused of sexual misconduct
Former T1 player Kim “Clid” Tae-min has been benched by Hanwha Life Esports after reports of sexual misconduct.
Earlier this week, screenshots of an alleged conversation between the player and a minor started circulating on Twitter. The victim shared that she was approached by Clid, who then proceeded to sexually harass her through Kakao Talk.
According to the victim, she cut off all contact with Clid after his violent remarks. She then proceeded to contact HLE, but the team completely ignored her report. The victim then decided to sue him and post all the proof online.
On June 28, Shadow Corporation, the agency representing Clid, released a statement justifying his actions. Shadow Corporation confirmed Clid had contacted the victim and clarified they had never met in person. The agency goes on to attempt to justify Clid’s remarks as a lack of experience.
“Now, he is a player of an age that cannot be said to be young, but since he has only met the opposite sex online, he has not been able to express his feelings honestly and plainly,” Shadow Corporation wrote in the statement.
Fans were quick to criticize the agency after they shared a screenshot of the Kakao Talk conversation. The screenshot shows all of the victim’s information, which could lead to more online harassment.
Clid benched after sexual misconduct scandal
The statement came out just hours before HLE was set to face DPlus KIA in the LCK Summer Season. Clid was benched for the match and promoted HLE Academy jungler Jo “Grizzly” Seung-hoon
In the interview post-match, HLE’s coach Choi “DanDy” In-kyu admitted he wasn’t sure about Clid’s future. It is unclear if he will remain with the team or if he will be permanently removed for the rest of the season.
The team still has some time to make a decision before its next match on July 2 against Gen.G.
