FlyQuest transfers top laner Licorice to Golden Guardians
FlyQuest will be making big changes to its LCS roster ahead of the sixth week of the 2021 LCS Summer Split.
After a rough first half to the split, FlyQuest has transferred top laner Eric “Licorice” Ritchie to Golden Guardians effective immediately. The move comes after amassing a 3-12 record so far this split with the team in a shared eighth place in the LCS. The team is currently on a 10-game losing streak. To try to make a comeback, FlyQuest will be fielding Colin “Kumo” Zhao as its new top laner moving forward.
Not only will FlyQuest be swapping top laners, but it will also be playing with the complete Academy roster for week 6 of the split. This will put the LCS lineup in Academy for this week in hopes of letting the team find its footing against what should be easier opponents. The FlyQuest Academy roster has been in solid shape the past weeks and will now get the chance to prove themselves on the biggest North American stage.
“As of Today, Eric ‘Licorice’ Ritchie has been transferred to Golden Guardians,” FlyQuest said. “This was a mutual decision by all three parties.”
Licorice will be joining a Golden Guardians lineup that has also struggled to find a foothold. With a 5-10 record this split, Golden Guardians is sitting at the bottom of the LCS leaderboard but Licorice might be able to change that.
Licorice was originally considered one of the best North American prospects in the top lane, but has fallen a lot individually since leaving Cloud9 last year. Since then, the 23-year-old has not been able to perform at the same level despite being put in a position to carry on FlyQuest.
Licorice will play his first game with Golden Guardians on Friday, July 9, against 100 Thieves. FlyQuest will be up against Cloud9.
What is the FlyQuest LCS roster for week 6?
With the Academy squad being subbed in for week 6 of the 2021 LCS Summer Split, FlyQuest will be looking to finally rebound with some hungry talent on Summoner’s Rift. The roster includes a lot of power and a few familiar names.
The FlyQuest LCS roster is:
- Top – Colin “Kumo” Zhao
- Jungle – Hoangan “Nxi” Dinh
- Mid – Stephen “Triple” Li
- Bot – Frank “Tomo” Lam
- Support – David “Diamond” Bérubé
