Flash Wolves will miss the LMS playoffs for the first time

For the first time since 2015, Flash Wolves will miss the 2019 LMS playoffs.

It’s a sad day for Flash Wolves fans, as the team is missing playoffs for the first time in over four years. Flash Wolves was founded in 2013 and the team finally made it to the LMS for the 2015 spring season.

The team is currently at the bottom of the standings with only two wins in the current split.

Flash Wolves, the LMS elite

In 2015, Flash Wolves began its story of dominance in the LMS. The team never missed the playoffs and soon became the ambassadors of the league on the international stage.

That may not have been the plan from day one, but Flash Wolves did so much for the league. The team kept the LMS in the map and brought attention to the smallest league among the so-called major regions.

At the Mid-Season Invitational and the World Championship, Flash Wolves became a team one couldn’t ever underestimate. The squad was more than capable of taking games from favorites and soon the players had made a name for themselves. The team was at one point nicknamed the “Korea killers” for their consistent ability to upset Korean teams when LCK representatives were dominant internationally.

Flash Wolves’ performance at the international events earned the LMS a direct seeding to the Worlds Championship main event.

The rise and fall of Flash Wolves

Royal Never Give Up’s jungler Hung “Karsa” Hao-Hsuan was a member of Flash Wolves until 2017. His style shaped up and influenced the junglers in the LMS. Losing Karsa was rough for the roster, but the team moved forward with Kim “Moojin” Moo-jin as the starting jungler.

In 2018, three more players outgrew the LMS, as support Hu “SwordArt” Shuo-Chieh, mid laner Huang “Maple” Yi-Tang, and jungler Moojin departed. SwordArt and Maple went to LPL organization Suning Gaming, while Moojin returned to LCK with Hanwha Life Esports.

Losing three fundamental pieces of the roster took a toll on Flash Wolves. The team did its best to build a new roster around the remaining members, but the experiment had mixed results.

Flash Wolves qualified to MSI this year and had a mediocre showing, as the team finished with three wins and seven losses. Now, they will miss playoffs in their own region.
