Team SoloMid’ Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng got completely owned by the LPL teams in a trash talk video promoting the event.

The LPL teams released a video roasting their competitor at the 2020 World Championship and Doublelift received a personal message.

“Doublelift, the only game you have left might be your trash talk game,” TOP Esports jungler Hung “Karsa” Hao-Hsuan said on the video. “Wait, you’re even wearing the trash you used to throw away.”

This is, of course, a reference to Doublelift’s controversial transfer from TSM to Team Liquid and then back to TSM. Doublelift, whose favorite phrase is “everyone else is trash,” had no immediate response to the video.

Where do TSM and Doublelift ranks at Worlds 2020?

TSM achieved its goal of getting back to Worlds, but advancing beyond the group stage will be difficult. So far, Group C consists of Fnatic, Gen.G, and TSM. If everything goes according to expectations, LGD Gaming from the LPL would end up seeded into this group.

Gen.G is a team with a heavy focus on the bottom side of the map. After an outstanding performance at the LCK Regional Finals, bot laner Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk is considered one of the best ADC players at the event.

Fnatic’s Martin “Rekkles” Larsson and Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov are a bot lane duo that needs no introduction. These are players that like to play aggressively and go for skirmishes, with no help from the jungler needed.

Doublelift might be an institution in North America, but he doesn’t have the same agency internationally. In the LCS, Doublelift had a mediocre spring season and didn’t look that much stronger in the summer. Heading to Worlds 2020, there are many questions around Doublelift and how well will he fare against Ruler, Rekkles, and other international competition.

If his domestic performance is any indication of what’s to come at Worlds, TSM could be in hot water. This is a make or break it moment for TSM and Doublelift. If the team fails once again, to make it out of groups, it might be time to start asking the hard questions. Not only about TSM and its players, but about the LCS as a whole.
