God of War Ragnarok

Kratos and Atreus’ return to God of War Ragnarok is 2022’s gaming calender’s most exciting moment, but early leaks have dampened the spirits.

God of War Ragnarok would mark the highly-anticipated return of giant beasts, new gods, an immersive storyline, and an iconic one-shot camera view. Minor leaks and teasers are always welcomed by eager fans, but no one was expecting to see full God of War Ragnarok gameplay ahead of the release. Unfortunately, that is precisely what has happened.

God of War Ragnarok is still a week away, but almost the entire storyline is now on the internet, pouring cold water over the hype. Cory Barlog, who directed 2018’s God of War, has revealed that the 2022 rendition has been sold by at least one retailer prior to the official release, leading to leaks swirling on the internet.

“A retailer selling the game nearly two weeks before release. Just so disappointing. Sorry to everyone that you have to dodge the spoilers if you want to play the game fresh. Completely f—ing stupid you have to do this,” Cory Barlog said.

Fans have been advised to dodge the leaks if they want to play the game fresh. But, at this point, videos with gameplay are almost everywhere. Santa Monica Studio is also trying to minimize the damage, but it seems like a long shot when the God of War Ragnarok gameplay is one forum search away.

Publishers typically send game discs to retailers weeks before the release, so it’s likely just an unfortunate incident. But Barlog has said that an installer with part data would have been a better option to avoid such a disaster. Many popular game titles like CoD roll out physical discs that get loaded with data upon official release.

But what’s done is done. So far, jaw-dropping storyline twists have slipped through the cracks, putting a bad taste in fans’ mouths. But, patient players are muting relevant keywords to get a first-hand experience when Ragnarok launches on November 9.
