Considering the biggest accomplishments of the top teams in esports
Gaming is an activity that brings people a great deal of fun, often being somewhat of a nice hobby. With the advent of the current global pandemic, people are looking for alternatives to help distract them from what’s happening globally. This has led to the popularity of social media content as well as online gaming.
Although a vast majority of people prefer to play online casino slots, others are now drawn to watching their favorite esports teams battle it out on some of the world’s most significant platforms and events.
Esports has now attracted over 400 million fans globally, which is primarily the reason why the industry managed to accumulate about $1 billion worth of revenue in 2019.
In 2020, this gaming industry is at a staggering $160 billion in market value. So, this begs the question, what are the best esports teams on the planet?
Team Liquid
Team Liquid is one of the most popular esports teams today. Even if you haven’t paid much attention to the industry, this name is bound to ring a bell. This team is believed to be the most successful in the industry’s history, although the statement is bound to get a few shrugs. Victor Goosens founded the team 20 years back to become what it is today.
Team Liquid has cemented its reputation across the two decades by overcoming almost every team they have encountered. Initially, the team started by competing in the StarCraft series. Later on, they gained interest in some popular classic games such as Dota 2 and League of Legends. The team has amassed over $35 million in winnings, which is why they continue to prove their worth even today.
OG
OG has acquired about $30 million in winnings from about 81 gaming events to date. Their fame has now exceeded expectations seeing as they only just entered the industry recently. Their most successful competition is in Dota 2. However, they are also quite conversant with Counterstrike: GO and Super Smash Bros.
Perhaps the most significant thing about this team is that they are sponsored by Red Bull. They haven’t been here long, but their accomplishments have now put their name on the map. They won the International Dota 2 competition both in 2018 and 2019. OG is now among the most successful eSports teams because of these notable triumphs.
Evil Geniuises
Interestingly enough, Team Liquid is second to Evil Geniuses when it comes to today’s oldest esports teams. The Evil Geniuses team was established in 1999, a year before Team Liquid. Looking at what they’ve achieved, the team offers some serious competition to Team Liquid.
Evil Geniuses has its base in San Francisco with some unique talents, such as Peter Dager and Sumail Hassan. Initially, they preferred to compete through the CSGO platform, although they have now ventured into other games as well, most notably Call of Duty and World of Warcraft. The team has competed in almost 841 events and has won over $25 million in prize money.
