Chicago PD star LaRoyce Hawkings updated the fans on the future of Season 11, and it is not what fans wanted.

During a lecture at Louisiana State University, Hawkings revealed that filming for Season 11 will be delayed. This news should not come as a surprise, considering both the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild are currently on strike.

Both unions have paused all activities as a result of disagreements with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, a group that represents all major studios.

Per strike rules, actors are forbidden from participating in any kind of promotional activity. The best example is the cast of Oppenheimer, who left the London premiere as soon as the strike was officially announced.

So far, the AMPTP has refused to return to the negotiation table. Some studios are going as far as to cancel long-time deals with directors and writers. While many expected the strike to be over by next fall, it seems like an unlikely outcome at this point.

Chicago PD Season 11 Release Date

Chicago PD now joins the ever-growing list of shows and movies that are being delayed indefinitely. It is unclear how fast can shows resume shooting or how many will return at all.

As a result of the 2007 WAG strike, several shows were abruptly canceled. At this point, several productions have paused their activities indefinitely. Considering what has already happened, it is not unreasonable to predict some shows won’t survive the strike.

Major hits like Stranger Things, Euphoria, and The Last of Us could be considered safe during this time. Shows on networks like Chicago PD, could be in danger of cancelation. Regardless of how big of an audience a show has, cancelation is not out of the question.

If Chicago PD is not canceled and production resumes in 2024, Season 11 could air in the fall of next year.
