Fnatic’s top laner Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau won the League of Legends All-Star 2019 one-on-one tournament after defeating Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao in the finals.

All-Stars is an event full of entertainment and friendly competitions. Its one-on-one tournament is one of the most amusing All-Star competitions for League fans, as their favorite players get put to a different sort of test. While some pro players shine with teamwork and synergy, this tournament is to prove which one is the strongest in duels.

The tournament saw 32 players participate through a single-elimination bracket, until the last day of the event where the top four fought in the best-of-three sets. To make it to the finals, Bwipo and Uzi had to win against Đỗ “Levi” Khánh and Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok, respectively.

New rules were added for this tournament as well. Matches were played on Howling Abyss where players start at level three with 1400 gold, have lower cooldowns on Summoner spells, while some items and runes were nerfed or disabled. To win a game, a player had to either kill the enemy twice in the first seven minutes or kill them once after during sudden death. Destroying a turret after the seventh minute also results in a win.

Bwipo takes win against Uzi at All-Star 2019 1v1 finals

Bwipo faced the Royal Never Give Up bot laner in the finals. The players played three games, and Uzi seemed stronger at the start. For the first game, Uzi picked Varus to fight against Bwipo’s Ornn. Soon after the sudden death announcement, he pushed Bwipo’s turret down and took the first win.

But Uzi felt too confident that he can continue to outplay Bwipo with Varus. For the second game, Bwipo picked Hecarim to rush into the marksman. Even though Uzi kept pushing the lane and threatening the tower, once Bwipo leveled up Hecarim’s ultimate, he went all-in and took the sudden death win for the tie.

For the third match, Uzi picked Varus again. However, Bwipo wasn’t going to get outplayed by Varus, and with his Renekton pick, he didn’t struggle at all to take two kills and the win he needed to become the All-Star 2019 1v1 champion.
