The former Team SoloMid top laner Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik returns to Europe to play for Schalke 04 in the upcoming 2021 LEC season.

Broken Blade will be replacing veteran top laner Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu, who was recently picked up by Rogue. For two seasons, Broken Blade has been with TSM in the LCS, where he made a name for himself after being picked up from the Turkish TCL team Royal Youth.

Broken Blade returns to LEC

Broken Blade has grown individually and as a team player under the wings of TSM, winning the 2020 LCS Summer Split trophy and went to the 2020 World Championship as the first seed for North America. Sadly, his Worlds debut wasn’t what many fans would have hoped for after TSM got knocked out in the group stage with a 0-6 record.

Despite the poor result at Worlds, Broken Blade has been given a shot in the LEC for 2021. This is something many European fans have hoped for and now it’s finally happening. Broken Blade will compete against world-class top laners such as Martin “Wunder” Hansen and Gabriël  “Bwipo” Rau on a regular basis, giving him a chance to truly prove himself.

Broken Blade will play alongside one of his good friends Felix “Abbedagge” Braun and names such as jungler Erberk “Gilius” Demir, support Dino “LIMIT” Tot, and bot laner Matúš  “Neon” Jakubčík. The 2021 Schalke roster looks to be a very promising squad that could grow to be a dark horse in the LEC.

In 2020, Schalke barely made the miracle run to qualify for Worlds but a slow start of the split came in the way. For 2021, the goal of Schalke is likely to make solid playoff runs and finally make it to Worlds.

BrokenBlade

Who is Broken Blade?

Broken Blade is a 20-year-old top laner from Germany, with Turkish residency. Broken Blade started out in the Turkish TCL league, where he was one of the best top laners in the region.

After several splits in the TCL, he was picked up by TSM and quickly became one of the most liked players in the league. Now Broken Blade will head back to Europe and play his first split in the LEC.

Which league is Schalke 04 in LoL?

The Schalke 04 LoL team is playing in the best European league LEC. The LEC is a franchised league, which means that all teams own their spot in the league. With franchising, there is no relegation or demotion, so all 10 teams stay in the league unless a team breaks any rules or chooses to sell its spot.

Did Schalke make Worlds?

Schalke 04 didn’t make it to the 2020 World Championship even though it was close. Schalke started out the very important 2020 LEC Summer Split out poorly, but ended up making a miracle run to playoffs. Sadly for Schalke, they were knocked out by MAD Lions in the playoffs who went on to qualify for Worlds instead.
