The Boston Uprising have not done their homework.
Earlier this month, the Overwatch League shared its 2020 schedule which includes a global series of events hosted by the home city of each franchise. Boston is among that lot but while the Uprising has been selling tickets for these live shows, it remains unknown where they will actually be held.
“We have been working closely with dozens of potential locations throughout the city of Boston with date availability,” the Boston Uprising said in a
statement. “Our goal is to find the venue(s) we believe will provide the best experience based on the feedback we’ve received from you directly. While we won’t have our venue(s) finalized tomorrow, we wanted to provide an opportunity for our fans to take part in the excitement of the on-sale.”
The initial block of tickets is for week 12 of season three, which will take place on April 25 and 26. Tickets start at $118, with VIP treatment calling for $354. Fans can purchase a “Grandmaster add-on” for $75 that includes a meet and greet, early access to the venue, and a commemorative item.
Boston is one of America’s biggest sports towns and has ravenous fans, but the news has not been received particularly well.
“It was kind of funny for a bit, but I sincerely hope we will not be expected to put money down for a ticket before knowing where we need to go,”
wrote a fan on Twitter.
Most Overwatch League teams have begun selling tickets for their homestand weekends, though organizations in Los Angeles and Asia are working on a separate schedule. The new live format calls upon each franchise to host a multiple events, but several organizations only have one currently planned. The
Philadelphia Fusion, Washington Justice, and Vancouver Titans are the only North American teams that currently have more than one set of dates on record.
