A new challenge has gone live in Overwatch and it centers around the game’s newest support hero, Baptiste.
Along with a new short story written by Alyssa Wong titled “What You Left Behind,” players are also now being issued a new challenge and rewards for watching selected streams. Rewards for winning games include sprays and a new Baptiste skin. Players can earn these rewards by competing in Quick Play, Competitive Play, or Arcade game modes.
The first win will reward players with a Baptiste-themed player icon. The second reward is a set of two sprays, and the third is the newly released skin for the hero.
In addition to the in-game rewards, there are also a number of sprays that can be earned simply by watching popular streamers. In order to gain these sprays, players must link their Blizzard account to their Twitch accounts. Two hours of watching connected streams will earn the first spray, four hours will reward two sprays, and six hours watched will dole out three skins.
Along with the new challenge, the latest patch also includes hero changes and a new replay function allowing players to watch past matches and analyze gameplay. The hero updates provide buffs for Baptiste, McCree, and Orisa, and nerf D.Va and Torbjörn. Symmetra also received a quality of life update regarding her teleporter.
The replay function allows gamers to go back to their previously played games and watch them from a variety of different points of view. The tool allows players to view any of their ten most recent matches played from first-person, third-person, or bird’s-eye perspectives. Mechanisms to slow down or speed up the game can be utilized so that players can see exactly how their choices and strategies affected the game. The UI can even be turned off for maximum viewing space.
This update comes in between the annual Overwatch Anniversary event and the highly anticipated Summer Games event, where Lucio Ball is expected to make its return.
