Balance Druids sit on top of WoW DPS rankings in patch 9.1
Balance Druids sit on top of WoW DPS rankings in patch 9.1
World of Warcraft has an abundance of DPS options and balance changes happen fairly frequently. That makes it difficult to figure out the best and most efficient ways to blow up enemies at any given moment.
Still, there is a fairly defined hierarchy in World of Warcraft right now. Here is a current ranking of the best DPS options in the game, and context for why exactly the best options sit at the top.
WoW DPS rankings
- S-Tier:
Balance Druid
- A-Tier:
Windwalker Monk, Elemental Shaman, Shadow Priest, Destruction Warlock, Fury Warrior, Havoc Demon Hunter, Arcane Mage
- B-Tier:
Demonology Warlock, Assassination Rogue, Subtlety Rogue, Retribution Paladin, Unholy Death Knight, Feral Druid
- C-Tier:
Fire Mage, Frost Mage, Outlaw Rogue, Arms Warrior, Beast Mastery Hunter, Frost Death Knight, Survival Hunter, Marksmanship Hunter, Affliction Warlock, Enhancement Shaman
Balance Druid is best WoW DPS class
Sitting comfortably at the top of World of Warcraft DPS classes right now is the Balance Druid. Balance Druids have long been one of the stronger DPS options in World of Warcraft, but the 9.1 balance patch really cemented it as the uncontested best DPS class in WoW.

Patch 9.1 buffed a number of different areas of the Balance Druid, something that the class didn’t really need in the grand scheme of WoW DPS classes. That helped boost the Balance Druid class past other top DPS options such as the Windwalker Monk, Elemental Shaman, and Arcane Mage.
Despite all this, Balance Druids aren’t untouchable and there could be a number of other classes sneak above them in the future with slight buffs to A-tier options such as Windwalker Monks and Elemental Shamans, or nerfs to some of Balance Druids’ versatility and damage output. Right now, Balance Druids are still the best DPS option there is in World of Warcraft.
Rogues on the rise in WoW DPS rankings

Though they officially sit in the middle of the pack in the WoW DPS rankings, rogues are actually positioned to make some serious gains soon. Subtlety Rogues in particular are set to rise up after a series of buffs in patch 9.1.
Those gains could see the Subtlety Rogue become the best melee DPS option in the coming months. There are a handful of other classes that currently sit ahead of it including the Havoc Demon Hunter and the Windwalker Monk, but it wouldn’t be a shock to see Subtlety Rogues scratching their way over and past them.
