Australia and China revealed their rosters for the 2019 Overwatch World Cup.

The fourth edition of the event is a few months away and the national teams are starting to come together. The two countries unveiled their star-studded lineups for the event.

Australia’s Overwatch World Cup roster

Australia surprised everyone with a 6-man roster. The team decided to bring along one extra coach instead of a substitute player. Talon Esports coach Sam “Face” Mereweather will join Boston Uprising assistant coach Jordan “Gunba” Graham. ORDER’s Andrew “rqt” Haws will take on general manager duties.

In the tank role, Australia chose Dallas Fuel’s Ashley “Trill” Powel l and Boston Uprising Academy’s Leyton “Punk” Gilchrist. Felix “ckm” Murray came out to retirement to reprise his role as DPS with the Australian team. The second player in the position is Jason “ieatuup” Ho who played briefly in Contenders China and is now a free agent.

Contenders Australia players Max “Unter” Unterwurzacher and Giorgio “Tongue” Lahdo round out the lineup as supports.

Unfortunately for Australia, Los Angeles Valiant support Scott “Custa” Kennedy will not be able to attend the event due to a prior commitment.

China

China is competing this year with a team full of Overwatch League players.

The Chendgu Hunters will send five players to the competition. Support duo Kong “Kyo” Chunting and Xianyao “Yveltal ” Li, DPS player Yi “JinMu” Hu, and off-tank Luo “Elsa” Wenjie will all compete at the event. The Hunters will also send recently signed prospect Huang “leave” Xin, who rose to fame at the 2018 Overwatch World Cup.

The rest of the lineup is no less impressive. Hangzhou Spark tank Xu “guxue” Qiulin and Guangzhou Charge DPS Ou “Eileen” Yiliang will both return to the team after representing China in previous years.

Chendgu head coach Xingrui “RUI” Wang is in charge of the team with Overwatch caster Qiong “Tutu” Li serving as the general manager.

China has its eyes on the prize and looks to be a serious threat to end South Korea’s dominance at the event. China will start the event in Group B with Canada and three other teams.

Australia is fielding a solid roster but needs to work its way through the qualifiers first. The squad will have to clear the preliminary rounds and place in the top five of a 42-team field.

The Overwatch World Cup kicks off on November 1 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
