mousesports adds new coach mithR in the middle of IEM Beijing

mousesports has officially signed Torbjørn “mithR” Nyborg away from Renegades’ Counter-Strike: Global Offensive squad to replace Allan “Rejin” Petersen.

After Rejin’s removal from mousesports due to the Esports Integrity Commission’s report on the CSGO coaching exploit, mousesports has once again looked to Denmark for coaching. In a surprise transfer, both mousesports and Renegades announced the move from their respective Twitter accounts. mithR didn’t waste any time hopping into the role, either. The 30-year-old head coach was on the server for mousesports’ match against Astralis on November 14, just hours after the organization revealed his signing.

mithR seeks international challenge with move to mouz

mousesports ended 2019 on a hot streak, with wins over Evil Geniuses at EPICENTER 2019, G2 Esports at CS Summit 6, and Fnatic in the ESL Pro League Season 10 finals in November 2019 making the case for a retooled mousesports to make an impact in 2020’s planned international tournaments. Then things started to go sideways. Despite a solid showing to start off 2020, mousesports hasn’t looked like the same team that won a host of events in 2019. Reijin’s 20-month suspension from the ESIC certainly didn’t help matters.

Though this isn’t an ideal circumstance, mithR is a good pickup for mousesports. mithR joined Renegades in July prior to CSGO’s player break, but the team has been underwhelming since. While Renegades blew through regional competitions with ease, it hasn’t faced a team outside of its region since washing out of IEM Katowice 2020 in February.

mithR joins a mousesports team with young guns Aurimas “bymas” Pipiras and Robin “ropz” Kool, who mithR might be able to help bring to the next level. mousesports defeated BIG in its IEM Beijing debut but fell to the lower bracket after a 2-1 loss to Astralis. Mouz will face the winner of North vs. G2 Esports on November 16.
