GODSENT reportedly shopping CSGO roster amid pronax controversy
A report claims that GODSENT plans to transfer its CSGO roster to an unknown team.
The rumors come on the heels of an internal dispute between GODSENT co-founder Marcus "Pronax" Wallsten and the organization's board of directors. Since the dispute began, little has been said about the organization's improving Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team.
Its current form in the ongoing DreamHack Open Fall 2020 tournament lends weight to the report, as GODSENT looks to be on the cusp of a breakout performance. GODSENT's performance has been impressive, and includes a best-of-three win against FaZe Clan and several overtime losses that show it stands as one of the toughest tier-two teams in CSGO's online era.
Where will the GODSENT roster end up?
If GODSENT does transfer its CSGO players to another organization, there are several potential landing spots but the team being broken up and sold for parts is also a possibility. With FLASHPOINT 2 scheduled to take place in London with a $1 million prize pool, there are an awfully lot of empty seats at the table. MIBR currently has only two players listed on its active roster, while both MAD Lions and GEN.G recently saw players leaving the organizations for other opportunities. Godsent currently has a full five-man squad signed:
- Kevin "kRYSTAL" Amend
- Martin "STYKO" Styk
- Jesse "zehN" Linjala
- Pavle "maden" Bošković
- Asger "farlig" Jensen
- Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg
Franchised FLASHPOINT teams have seven spots open for individual players and GODSENT's players could be shipped off to plug those holes.
With GODSENT's relative success since its return to CSGO in 2019, the roster could also make waves in international competitions. Out of the 12 teams competing in FLASHPOINT 2, three invited teams still haven't been announced. GODSENT's roster could be a turnkey operation for a prominent esports organization to step into CSGO, though FLASHPOINT will also be looking to avoid another FunPlus Phoenix debacle.
If this ends up being the case, the GODSENT roster would stand a decent chance of winning an event like FLASHPOINT 2. The tournament taking place in London also makes travel less of an issue due to the roster's current EU residency.
