Playing professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive requires immense mental toughness to deal with a rigorous schedule and intense competition, but it can sometimes require physical toughness too. That was the case with a player from CR4ZY who found himself fending off an animal attack.

Facing elimination, the CIS squad was locked into a brutal series against Serbia’s Level Up Esports in the second group stage of Nine to Five #2. The series opened with a quadruple overtime game on Mirage, which CR4ZY won in 28-25 fashion. According to the team’s coach Ivan “Johnta” Shevtsov, one of the players was attacked by a dog at some point after the opening game was completed.

After getting attacked by the dog, the player returned to the server and finished the series. CR4ZY dropped the second map, but sealed up the 2-1 series victory with another overtime win. All in all, the series took over four and a half hours.

CR4ZY overcomes dog attack to win series

Despite being injured, the player toughed it out and finished the series to its completion. It is unclear which member of the team was hurt, but CR4ZY has been competing with the following roster:

  1. Sergey “Sergiz” Atamanchuk
  2. Alexandr “Psycho” Zlobin
  3. Dmitriy “SENSEi” Shvorak
  4. Sergiy “DemQQ” Demchenko
  5. Evgeniy “7oX1C” Motsevoy

Johnta didn’t stipulate which member of the team was injured, but CR4ZY player 7oX1C noted on Twitter that the person who was hurt was fine afterwards.

Though the storybook ending to this would have seen the team overcome this adversity and notch a first-place finish, that’s not actually what happened. Following their win over Level Up, CR4ZY took a 2-1 loss to Tikitakan, marking the end of their run in the tournament in 13th place.

Whoever it is that was bitten will now have a good bit of time to recover.

“This match was our last before vacation…we had a good working period since early May when we got this roster and built good fundamentals. Now it’s time to refresh,” Johnta said.
