Complexity Gaming’s CEO Jason Lake turned to Twitter to announce an overhaul of the organization’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team after a disappointing run at the StarLadder Berlin Major 2019.

Complexity’s CSGO team didn’t perform at the major. Even though not widely considered to be a top-tier team, it was expected of them internally to at least reach the New Legends stage, and they weren’t even close to doing so. They ended their run as the 14th out of 16 teams in the New Challengers stage with a loss against Grayhound Gaming, a younger Australian team that may have been underdogs to Complexity.

Jason Lake turned to Twitter to share his dissatisfaction with the team’s performance quickly after they lost the set, saying that this result cannot be tolerated and inviting tier-one players to join him in building one of the best CSGO teams in the world.

“I love our players as individuals but these results won’t be tolerated,” Lake said. “If you’re a Tier 1 player looking for a fresh start at the best facility in the world, HMU. I’ll pay for your buyout and give you the world’s highest salaries.”

Many fans were quick to react the tweet might have been rushed and not well enough considered, with many assuming the players would find out about the news over social media. However, Lake later added that the decision, as well as the tweet, had been discussed with the players beforehand. He also reminded the fans that, even though he cares about the team, he still has a business to run.

On the other hand, some fans pointed out that with his passion and experience in the CSGO scene, Lake deserves to run a team that will perform better.

Complexity has been a part of the scene since 2003 and has represented many players since, with ups and downs throughout the years. At its absolute peak, Complexity was considered by many the world’s top team in Counter-Strike, but that was well over a decade ago, years before the release of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The community is excited to see if the team will truly come back as a superpower with Lake’s “juggernaut” team.

There has since been no news on which players will be continuing their careers under Complexy’s banner and what the future holds for the current players.
