Fortnite patch 9.41 adds new sniper rifle, celebrates birthday
Fortnite is now two years old and Epic Games is celebrating the occasion with the version 9.41 patch.
The update includes new challenges, bug fixes, and content for Battle Royale, Creative, and Save the World modes.
The highlight of the update is a new weapon, the Storm Scout Sniper Rifle. The new gun is available epic and legendary forms and has a unique weather map component. The weather map will let players know where upcoming storm circles will be before they’re revealed on the map. The weapon fires at at 1.1 rounds per second and deals up to 212 damage with a headshot.
In addition to the new gun, birthday presents and birthday cakes have been added across the map. Birthday presents are of legendary rarity and can be opened to receive one of six possible loot bundles. Birthday cakes can be found on the map and grant five health and five shields. Neither presents nor cakes are available in arena or tournament modes.
Fortnite version 9.41 brings Overtime Challenges
With Fortnite Season 9 winding down following the epic monster battle, Overtime Challenges have been added. Rewards for the challenges include experience, loading screens, and, new skin styles. Season 10 is starting in August, so players have ten days to complete the challenges.
Another interesting addition is that the Fortnite World Cup will be watchable through the Fortnite client. The new Picture-in-Picture feature will allow players to watch the broadcast whilst they’re playing their own games. It is unclear if this is specifically for the World Cup, or if it will be supported with other Fortnite tournaments in the future.
Creative mode has gotten four Movie Set prefabs and three new galleries, The set includes warehouse, helicopter crash, docks, and ceremony prefabs, as well as movie set, movie set prop, and nature tree galleries. Creative was also updated with a new limited time mode in StrayKite’s Prop Hunt.
Finally, Save the World's weekly store has gotten a new addition. The Pulsar 9000, a shotgun that fires plasma rings that pierce enemies, will be available in the store from July 24.
