Five years after its release, Pokemon GO has finally caught up with the main games of the franchise and will soon be releasing brand new Pokemon from the Galar region.

During the most recent Pokemon Presents, it was revealed that Pokemon from the Galar region will be making an appearance in Pokemon GO starting with the Ultra Unlock part three event. This event is set to start on Friday, August 20, and will include one of the fan favorites from the Sword and Shield game, Wooloo. The Galar region will also be represented in five-star raids, with Zacian and Zamazenta entering the world of Pokemon GO.

The Ultra Unlock bonus event will run from Friday, August 20, at 10:00 AM local time and conclude on Tuesday, August 31, at 8:00 AM local time. This will give players around 11 days to discover the new Pokemon from the Galar region and have plenty of time to take down the two new legendary Pokemon that could end up as some of the strongest Pokemon to date.

It wasn’t specified exactly how many Pokemon from the Galar region would be unlocked but players can expect the likes of Wooloo, Dubwool, Greedent, Skwovet, and Falinks to appear in the wild during this event. To make the event a bit shinier, there will also be shiny versions of the Galarian forms of Meowth, Weezing, Stunfisk, and Farfetch’d.

So far, the Galar region has only been represented in Pokemon GO through the Galarian form of certain Pokemon. This will continue to be the case, as Pokemon GO is adding several new Galarian forms to 7-kilometer eggs.

Zacian and Zamazenta coming to Pokemon GO raids

Even though catching Pokemon from the Galar region in the wild will be amazing, the best part of this event will likely be the fact that the two legendary Pokemon, Zacian and Zamazenta, will be obtainable through five-star raids.

The two game mascots for Sword and Shield have been getting a lot of attention in the Pokemon franchise over the past few years and now it’s time to do the same in Pokemon GO. To make sure that everyone gets a chance to catch these legendaries, the two will be appearing at different times in raids.

Zacian will be the first to appear in raids, which will be from Friday, August 10, to Thursday, August 26. This will give players a week to get Zacian before Zamazenta will take over during the last week of the event. This will be from Thursday, August 26, to Wednesday, September 1. After this, it’s unknown when the legendary dogs will return to raids in Pokemon GO so make sure to catch them while they are available.

The fact that Pokemon from the Galar region are making such a sudden entrance in Pokemon GO, seems to be related to the mythical Pokemon Hoopa which was already teased earlier this month. It’s still expected that Hoopa will make an appearance in the game sooner rather than later.
