Esports tournament and gaming platform XY Gaming is getting a new name and a fresh coat of paint as it becomes Repeat.gg.
The competition hub recently secured a new infusion of investments that will
enable it to grow
over the coming months and years. That growth begins internally with the team doubling in size, but it extends far beyond that.
Repeat will be dramatically increasing the number of games available to play through its online platform. Most notable and immediate on this list is Fortnite, the world’s biggest video game and a recent hotbed for competition.
Fortnite developer Epic Games has already promised to pump $100 million in prizes into its fledgling esports scene, and more is expected as the popular battle royale continues to grow through both weekly competitions and big international events like the
Fortnite World Cup.
Adding games like Fortnite to its repertoire will only increase the reach of Repeat. More games are planned to be added to the service on a quarterly basis.
Repeat is also looking to better serve both existing players and new ones who are attracted to the company’s new offerings. This will come by way of expanded customer support and a new design for the digital platform that is intended to be quicker and more responsive for users.
But players don’t need to wait for these new implementations to come online. Even as this new transition unfurls, Repeat will continue to host regular tournaments and competitions with cash prize pools on offer. One example is
the WD_Black tournament, an open and ongoing League of Legends competition sporting a $5,000 prize pool.
The platform also offers a variety of free-to-play competitions to players looking to get started. This is in addition to other modes of play including direct challenges and competitions in which the top half of participating players are rewarded.
