Winter Wonderland returns to Overwatch
Winter Wonderland returns to Overwatch
Overwatch Winter Wonderland, the game’s annual holiday event, returns this year with some new goodies for fans to find.
This is the game’s third Winter Wonderland event, with Mei’s Snowball Offensive and Yeti Hunter game modes returning. This is in addition to new arcade games, nine new skins, two emotes, six victory poses, and more that can be pulled out of loot boxes.
Mei’s Snowball Offensive is the game’s first Winter Wonderland mode, and is played with two teams of six with each player locked into playing Mei. The goal of the game is to pick up snowballs from piles and shoot them at other players elimination style until the last players on one team remain.
Yeti Hunter, a game mode introduced for the first time last year, is played with five Mei characters and one Yeti who uses Winston’s abilities. The Yeti must collect meat to unlock a powerful ability that renders him immune to Mei’s freezing abilities. The goal for each side is to eliminate the other.
In addition to all of the holiday content comes holiday decorations to existing maps. Blizzard World, Black Forest, King’s Row, and Hanamura have all been spruced up with holiday decor.
All of the unlockable content from loot boxes that has appeared in previous Winter Wonderland events will be available for purchase with in-game currency at a discount, while the new content will be available at a higher price. Each loot box has a guaranteed holiday item inside, however duplicate items drops are possible.
Winter Wonderland will be available until January 2, after which holiday items and loot boxes will again become unavailable for purchase.
