Riot Games is following its plan to add at least one champion to each role in 2021. So far, junglers have welcomed a new addition to the rotation in the Ruined King himself, Viego. On January 8, to celebrate the start of Season 11, Riot explained that the next three champions coming out would be related to Viego and the Ruined King storyline. According to Ryan “Reav3” Mirelles, Riot is getting ready to introduce a familiar face in the top lane.

“For a while, we’ve been wanting to add more magic damage fighters, especially one tailor made for top lane. We believe snipping a bigger space out of our roster for AP fighters, will not only lead to more diversity in the top lane, but also more choices for other lanes as well. With that in mid, we begin to sew a new champion for the Ruined King’s return,” Mirelles said.

Mirelles is referring to Isolde, Viego’s wife. Isolde, a seamstress, died after being cut by a poisoned dagger meant for Viego who desperately tried to find an antidote. Isolde would end up dying, but Viego never came to terms with her death. Viego tried everything in order to reunite with his wife.

With the help of the healing waters on the Blessed Isles, Viego brought Isolde back to life. Isolde, who didn’t want to return, attacked Viego. After Isolde’s betrayal, Viego became the Ruined King that everyone feared. Isolde, who couldn’t return to her grave, is roaming the world, but her loyalties now are unclear.

When is Isolde joining League of Legends?

The exact timeline for Isolde’s release is unclear. Riot usually reserves the biggest releases for the summer events. In 2020, it was all about the Spirit Blossom festival and Yone. Isolde could be getting the same treatment this year.

How long does a League of Legends season last?

The League of Legends season lasts 10 months, starting in mid-January and ending in November. During the offseason, players can still play ranked games, but any rank achieved in the offseason won’t count towards ranked rewards and ranks will be reset with the new season.

Is League of Legends free?

League of Legends is a free-to-play game. Players can unlock new champions and earn rewards through in-game events and by achieving certain milestones such as reaching a new level on their account. New champions and skins can also be purchased with real-world money after it is exchanged for Riot Points.
