TSM announces 2020 LCS jersey with new stars, fans not impressed
Team SoloMid shared the design of its new jersey for the 2020 LCS Spring Split, and fans are already making fun of it.
It’s standard for big League of Legends teams to have new jerseys each season. Besides carrying player and sponsor names, jerseys represent the brand with their iconic colors and need to be fashionable enough to make fans want to buy them.
Given that the colors of TSM are as simple as white and black, the jerseys of the League of Legends team have been kept mostly minimalistic over the years, with few seasonal changes. But it’s this year’s small change that some fans are laughing at.
TSM 2020 LCS jersey features six stars for six regional wins
The team has decided to add six stars, represntative of its achievements, above the TSM logo normally placed on the left upper side of the jersey. Each of the stars represents a win in an LCS split, of which TSM has the most, and is the reason why the team is presented as one of the best and most successful in North America.
That being said, none of these achievements were recent. The past two seasons TSM couldn’t recreate its glory, given the team finished the 2018 NA LCS Summer split fifth, and placed fourth in the 2019 LCS Summer, failing to qualify for a World Championship two seasons in a row.
This is why fans aren’t happy with the new jersey. Not only are they dissatisfied there’s been no innovation besides the newest camo print, making the jerseys look quite boring in comparison to some others, fans also feel this isn’t the right time to promote these achievements since they don’t reflect on TSM’s recent play.
What TSM’s designers were likely hoping to achieve something special with the addition of stars to the jersey, the immediate response has been more one of derision. The jersey sells for $65, with the possibility of having a custom gamertag on the back for $5 more.
