Persona 5 Royal is coming to PC and we know all the details about it, including the game’s release date.

Persona 5 was a smash hit for the PlayStation 3 and 4, with many regarding it as the best Japanese RPG of the era. Atlus didn’t stop there. Like Persona 3 and 4, the game received a special re-release dubbed Persona 5 Royal.

Persona 5 Royal added a number of new features including new confidants, more rewards for exploration, and an epilogue chapter to the game. This made for a roundly strong experience that is worth revisiting even for those who played the original. But until recently, it seemed that the game was set to be locked up on the PlayStation 4 forever. So what can people on the other side of the console wars expect? And when will Persona 5 Royal come out on the PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox?

Persona 5 Royal release date on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox

Persona 5 Royal will be released on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox consoles on October 21, 2022.

This will result in the game becoming available on all modern consoles. Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable will also be available on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox consoles on October 21, 2022 as well.

Persona 4 Golden was originally released on the PlayStation Vita with a number of new features that improved upon the original PlayStation 2 release. It was given a surprise PC release in 2020, but was never given a console release before this.

Persona 3 Portable is a modified PSP port of the PlayStation 2’s Persona 3. It adds a number of new features including the ability to play as a female protagonist with alternate romance options. The migration to the PSP necessitated the removal of some other features, nixing the epilogue chapter and adding a menu-based navigation system to the overworld. As with Persona 4 Golden, it never received a console release but it also never landed on PC.

Is Persona 5 Royal any good?

PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox gamers will want to take a strong look at Persona 5 Royal as it is widely regarded as one of the best Japanese RPGs in recent years.

The game has been widely praised for its strong graphics and sound. It has both English and Japanese voice tracks with strong performances on both, with a catchy soundtrack. It also has stylish presentation in everything from the battles to the overworld to the menus.

As is Persona tradition, it combines turn-based RPG gameplay with visual novel elements. Players have to essentially build a new life in Tokyo, making friends with classmates, getting through school, and dealing with the world-ending crises of the story. Advancing in the visual novel elements helps players in battle through a variety of means.

Assuming it has been optimized for its new platforms, Persona 5 Royal should be a great pickup for PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The game currently boasts an average rating of 95 on Metacritic for its PS4 release.
