Fans will notice a different voice, and face, behind Spartan 117 in the new Halo TV show, so who plays Master Chief?
The iconic voice of Steve Downes will not be behind the dulcet tones coming from the Master Chief’s helmet for the serialized adaptation on Paramount Plus. Here’s what you need to know about who plays Master Chief in the Halo show, where you might know him from, as well as the supporting cast.
Pablo Schreiber plays the Master Chief in Halo TV show
Master Chief is played by Canadian-American actor Pablo Schreiber, best known for his appearances in American Gods, Orange is the New Black, 13 Hours, and Den of Thieves. Schreiber’s Master Chief does exist in a separate version of the Halo canon from Steve Downes’ iconic super-soldier. Master Chief’s fellow Spartans in Silver Team consist of Kai-124 played by Kate Kennedy, Riz-028 played by Natasha Culzac, and Vannak-134 depicted by Bentley Kau.
The young resistance member taken under Master Chief’s wing in the first episode, Kwan Ha, is played by actress Yerin Ha. The young rebel appears to be playing a large part in the series, escaping from the UNSC with Master Chief at the end of the first installment.
Catherine Halsey is played by Natascha McElhone, who will double as Cortana once the AI is introduced. Father-daughter duo of Jacob and Miranda Keyes have their roles taken up by Danny Sapani and Olive Gray.
There are plenty of new faces for fans to associate with characters they know, but the show has been careful to do justice to these well-loved figures of the canon.
