Console technology has rapidly progressed over the last decade, with improved hardware allowing for the limits of graphics and scale of games to be pushed beyond what was ever thought possible.

While PCs will always provide the best gameplay experience, consoles are more than competitive, arguably offering more value for money. Now that the technology and connectivity have improved, there is a market opening for older PC games to be ported, with the major companies hoping to make easy money by adding online multiplayer or remaking classics.

There are two reasons why a past PC exclusive game could be ported to consoles: Poor sales or high demand.

These ported games give gamers a more refined gaming experience that is completely different from what they’re used to on their PCs. Consoles offer a much better multiplayer experience and ease of play, making them the best gaming avenues by far. For this reason, here are the top PC games that have been ported/remade for consoles.

Baldur’s Gate

This is undoubtedly the closest we’ll ever get to a true Dungeons and Dragons. For any gamer, playing this RPG takes some getting used to since it’s among the most complex games out there. However, for any RPG fan, this is your best chance to experience one of the most iconic games ever made.

Baldur’s Gate was originally released for PC in 1998. What makes Baldur’s Gate stand out from other RPG games such as Skyrim is that its gameplay setting is addictive.

Baldur’s Gate was ported to console to enable easier gameplay among the new generation of players. Nowadays, the two original games of Baldur’s Gate are available for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Its minimum hardware requirements are:

Syndicate

Anybody who was ever into PC gaming in the 1990s is familiar with Syndicate. This game was first released for PC and Amiga back in 1993, the same year as other releases on SNES, Sega Genesis, and PlayStation Portable.

What made this game such a blast is that it is a great first-shooter game that combines a sci-fi vibe with very cooperative gameplay. This game was ported to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as part of a compilation to improve its gameplay.

Syndicate’s minimum hardware requirements are:

Diablo

Undoubtedly the original hack and slash video game. Diablo was released for PC back in 1997, and gamers haven’t gotten enough of this role-playing classic ever since. This blockbuster game has been part of the childhood of many gamers.

The game is loved by many because of its amazing gameplay and a great plot that will keep you coming back for more.

The different versions of the game have been ported to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch. This game was ported to consoles to give a much easier and convenient off-the-couch experience for the new generation of gamers.

Its minimum hardware requirements include:

Most gamers understand the importance of having these games ported to consoles. Not only does it create a whole new experience for gaming but it also makes the games a lot easier to play. This creates an ease of access for new gamers to play old games that would otherwise be forgotten.
