Players are finally getting accustomed to the new items in League of Legends after the big rework for season 11.

The plethora of new items has opened up new build paths for almost every champion in the game, including Mordekaiser. Even though Mordekaiser is rarely seen in professional play, he is still a popular pick to dominate the solo queue ladder. At even the highest ranks, Mordekaiser is fielding solid win rates and allowing players to play a real juggernaut style in both the top lane and jungle.

But what is the best way to build Mordekaiser after all these items changes? It’s time to take a look at the best items for the Iron Revenant.

Best Mordekaiser build in League of Legends

Just as in previous seasons, the build for Mordekaiser focuses on ability power but with enough defensive stats for him to stay beefy throughout the game. As an ability power fighter, Mordekaiser can’t be too squishy as he likes drawn-out fights where he can dish out consistent damage over time.

The opening item for Mordekaiser will in almost every case be the mythical item Riftmaker. This item is perfect for Mordekaiser as it provides a good chunk of ability power, as well as health and omnivamp to sustain. Most important is the Void Corruption passive, which works perfectly with Mordekaiser’s Darkness Rise passive. The Void Corruption passive damages enemy champions for 3% bonus damage for each second that Mordekaiser is dealing damage. This is fairly easy to stack up whenever Mordekaiser is in a fight, as he relies on continued damage from Darkness Rise.

With Riftmaker in place, Nashor’s Tooth is a great second option. This item is more aggressive than the others but will provide Mordekaiser with attack speed and on-hit damage. Getting these two items as soon as possible makes Mordekaiser a scary duelist who will be able to beat most champions in a one-on-one fight.

After acquiring his two core items, Mordekaiser wants to turn his focus towards more defensive items. The first is Zhonya’s Hourglass, to get access to its stasis active ability. The item gives Mordekaiser way more outplay potential and some good stats to go along with it.

The fourth item can be situational depending on the opposing team. If the opposition has a lot of physical damage, then a Thornmail will work wonders. Otherwise, Mordekaiser can go for a Rylai’s Crystal Scepter to help him stick to targets. For a confident Mordekaiser player, the build can also be rounded off with either Rabadon’s Deathcap or Void Staff to further amplify the champion’s raw damage.

Mordekaiser

What role is Mordekaiser in LoL?

Mordekaiser is a flexible champion, but is most commonly seen as a top laner. Through patch 11.10, Mordekaiser was primarily seen as a top laner and jungler at Platinum ranks and higher. With only 10,000 games in the jungle, this secondary role remains niche for Mordekaiser. In the top lane, Mordekaiser had over 135,000 games tracked, and this is where he performs best.

Is Mordekaiser good in LoL?

Mordekaiser has performed well throughout season 11 and continues to be a pick that many solo queue players consider for their climb. In professional play, he isn’t commonly seen because of the fact that he is fairly easy to play around. In solo queue, however, teams aren’t usually coordinated enough to shut down a Mordekaiser. This has resulted in a solid 50.45% win rate in the top lane through patch 11.10.
