On Saturday, Dignitas will look to pick up its first victory of the split against Team Liquid. In the spring, Dignitas had a better performance and managed to take one win from Liquid. In the summer, the tables have turned and Liquid is looking much stronger.

Dignitas’ struggles multiply in LCS Summer Split

Ahead of the 2020 LCS Summer Split, Dignitas revealed a ten-men roster that would fight for the starting positions. In weeks one and two, Dignitas played with the same roster and collected four losses. Dignitas’ main issue is perhaps the lack of pressure in its jungle. In the LCS, junglers are the core of the team, and if the jungler is not making things happen, teams cannot succeed. Unfortunately for Dignitas, Akaadian is not making things happen. It seems like the team is at least willing to try new things, like swapping top laners.

On Tuesday, V1per played with Dignitas Academy, but it remains unclear if it means that he won’t be starting in the LCS on Saturday. Whether it’s V1per in the top lane or not, Dignitas has other things to worry about in the matchup against Liquid.

Liquid is looking like an LCS contender again

Liquid underwent some serious renovations in the offseason. With Tactical in the bottom lane and Broxah fully acclimated to the team, Liquid is looking like a contender again. The team plays a dominant and aggressive style, traits that were missing in the spring.

The main difference now is Broxah and how comfortable he is playing with his teammates. The synergy between the jungler and the solo laners is clear, and the same can be said about the bottom lane. Liquid is playing a very proactive game, making things happen from level one, and it’s due in big part to Broxah. The Danish jungler is showing the North American audience why Liquid took the risk and signed him prior to this year’s LCS competition.

Liquid is looking good, the team is back in form, and analysts are already predicting it as a playoff contender.

Can Dignitas take down Liquid in the LCS?

The short answer is probably not. This matchup comes down to the jungle difference. Broxah does a better job at enabling its laners, creating pressure on the map, and scouting the opponent. Akaadian is just not on the same level and he can’t help the Dignitas laners as well as Broxah does with Team Liquid.

Considering the obvious skill difference in the jungle, Liquid is expected to win with a 1.61 over Dignitas’ 2.17.

Team Liquid and Dignitas play on June 27 at 5 PM CST.
