A brand new 2D side-scrolling Mario is coming out after nearly a decade to Nintendo Switch on October 20, 2023.
The game is easily one of the biggest Switch-exclusive releases in 2023, and players would want to grab a copy ASAP. Fortunately, Nintendo has opened pre-orders on the Nintendo eShop and in the My Nintendo Store on Nintendo.com.
Nintendo’s new Mario game is quite similar to the earlier renditions, so what sets it apart? Super Mario Bros. Wonder has Wonder Flowers that add a new variation and a silly twist to the gameplay.Â
Mario can acquire Wonder Flower during the gameplay, which works like a power-up. Picking up the giant flower would change the gameplay and map appearance with wild hurdles, stampedes, and even twisting the metal pipes.
Here are the notable power-ups in the trailer.
Nintendo’s new 2D game has multiple playable characters, meaning players are no longer stuck with Mario. The game stars various new characters, including Daisy, who was previously a part of side games.

Yes. Super Mario Bros Wonder would have multiplayer. It supports up to four players at a time.Â
A short clip in the trailer has as many as four Yoshi characters in one game. This means that the game allows support for up to four players. Not just that, players can pick four different Yoshis at the same time, which is incredible.Â
So, that’s all you need to know about Nintendo’s upcoming 2D Mario game before it releases in October 2023.Â
