Sugar Rush, old Snowdown Showdown skins now available in LoL store
The Sugar Rush event is now live in League of Legends together with new skins, chromas, summoner icons, and more.
Sugar Rush is a new version of Snowdown Showdown, a winter event League players have been enjoying for the past ten years. This year, instead of being dressed as elves, Santa Claus, or reindeers, Sugar Rush skins are all about sweets.
New League of Legends cosmetics available during winter event
The event includes skins for Braum, Evelynn, Ziggs, and Zilean. All of the skins have been available at the in-game shop since December 17, when some of the previous seasons’ legacy Snowdown skins popped up as well.
Each of the new skins is of epic rarity and besides a new model, also includes different animations, sounds, and visuals for the price of 1350 Riot Points, or around $10 USD. There are different bundles, chromas, and icons available for purchase, too. The Night & Dawn shop includes some of the cosmetics, with Sweet Tooth chromas, icons, and borders only being available for purchase with tokens.
Besides the bright and largely pink candy skins, some of the Snowdown Showdown skins are also available in the shop. Players that missed buying these skins during previous seasons now have a chance to buy Candy Cane Miss Fortune, Earnest Elf Tristana, Nutcracko, Festive Maokai, and more.
No new Snowdown Showdown skins for the first season ever
Ever since Sugar Rush skins were announced for this year’s seasonal event, League players have been pointing out on the lack of Snowdown Showdown skins, a set of holiday inspired skins that would get new additions at the end of every year since League released.
Even though players have been vocal about wanting more Snowdown skins, these weren’t actually so popular when it came to raw sales numbers, which is why developer Riot Games decided to replace the traditional holiday skins with the new Sugar Rush design. The elemental changes to Summoner’s Rift introduced this preseason also made covering the map in snow less fitting to the thematics of the rift.
