Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 developers have responded to a movement exploit known as snaking 2.0 that has console players outraged.

Like most shooters, Call of Duty is full of players who are looking for a competitive edge without cheating and hacking. Some gamers have found ways to take advantage of movement techniques that will give them the upper hand.

One of those is known as “snaking 2.0,” which allows players to quickly switch between crouching and standing prone as they run across the map. It essentially allows players to sprint, which some are calling “broken.”

Snaking 2.0 outrage sparks response from MW3

So what makes snaking 2.0 so controversial? Top Call of Duty players have pointed out that it’s only possible when using a mouse and keyboard, leaving console players disadvantaged.

Due to this imbalance, developers have decided to address the snaking 2.0 debate. On November 22, developers stated: “We’re investigating an exploit that allows players to spring while appearing in the prone animation.”

While developers are aware, the exploit is still in-game. No patch has been dropped in Call of Duty just yet. It’s most likely a big focus, however, since the movement has been a big problem in the Call of Duty League — so don’t expect it to be around much longer.

Said Sledgehammer Games: “We want you to be good at the game. If you can do it, go do it, but at the same time, there is always one player on the other side of it, and we want to make sure that’s a good experience for them, as well.”
