Shanghai Dragons recruit six new players
Shanghai Dragons have found their replacements for the next season of the Overwatch League.
After a previous announcement that Shanghai Dragons were releasing six players from the team’s roster, the organization has said on Twitter that it will be signing six new players to its roster ahead of season two.
The new players that will be joining the Dragons for season two are:
- Min-seong “diem” Bae,
- Jin-hyeok “DDing” Yang,
- Young-jin ” YOUNGJIN” Jin,
- Seong-hyeon “Luffy” Yang,
- Kyung-woo “CoMa” Son,
- Jun-hwan “GuardiaN” Jo
DDing, YOUNGJIN, Luffy, and CoMa’s signings come from new head coach Seong-hwan “BlueHaS” We’s former team KongDoo Panthera. KongDoo finished in second place in Contenders Korea’s second season. Two other players from KongDoo, Jang “Decay” Gui-un and Gye “r0ar” Chang-hoon, have signed with the Los Angeles Gladiators.
GuardiaN comes from Toronto Esports, and hitscan player diem comes from Lucky Future Zenith. Diem has close ties with Jae-hyeok “Carpe” Lee, star DPS player for the Philadelphia Fusion.
Last season the Dragons struggled to win even a single map in all of their games. The lone Chinese representative came away from the season with zero match wins. Shanghai completely turned its roster upside down by releasing six players, but fans are hopeful that the new additions, who are coming off of a very good year in the Contenders league, can bring home the team’s first wins.
Prior to these signings, the Dragons only had three players remaining on the roster, including tank Seyeon “Geguri” Kim, DPS Weida “Diya” Lu, and tank Eui-Seok “Fearless” Lee. With the six new players joining them, Shanghai has confirmed that this will be the final roster for season two.
