San Francisco Shock set new attacking speed record on Numbani

Overwatch League team San Francisco Shock have set a new record for the fastest time to complete hybrid map Numbani as the attackers.

The time of 3 minutes and 8 seconds not only sets the fastest time for the Overwatch League, but is now the record for all official pro Overwatch games.

The record was set during a match against the Washington Justice on March 2. After having won against the Justice on the previous map, the Shock were eager to press forward with the rest of the series. San Francisco attacked on Numbani first, and made lightning quick work of the defending team.

Washington was unable to hold objective A, with the Shock quickly overrunning them from the highground. The point was captured during the first fight in under a minute, with neither team even having time to build up their up their ultimates abilities.

As the payload began to move, Washington tried to delay the payload not far from Shock’s new spawning room, but this defense was only successful until Jay “Sinatraa” Won built up his ultimate as Zarya. As soon as the ability was ready, Sinatraa quickly flanked the defending team and launched a Graviton Surge that captured all six enemy players and led to a team kill for the Shock. This allowed San Francisco to push the payload to the next checkpoint with no resistance.

With the attacking Shock pushing the payload so quickly, the final push was in fact the first point in the game in which both teams had their ultimates available. Unfortunately for the Justice, the Shock were more successful with their D.Va bomb, as Hyobin “Choihyobin” Choi managed three kills to Kim “SanSam” Hyang-ki’s zero. The rest of the Justice were quickly picked off from there, enabling the Shock to win the point and set the record at 3 minutes and 8 seconds.

Before the Shock broke the record, the fastest time to complete Numbani had been 3 minutes and 12 seconds. This was held by Overwatch League team Houston Outlaws. The average time to complete an attack on Numbani is 6 minutes and 18 seconds.
