Riot reveals new World Championship skins for Invictus Gaming
Riot Games has unveiled the Invictus Gaming World Championship skins, and the six skins are hitting the PBE server soon.
Camille, Fiora, LeBlanc, Kai’Sa, Rakan, and Irelia were the champions chosen by Invictus Gaming. The new set of skins was unveiled through social media, and the video showed the altered abilities and new recall animations that include the players’ autographs.
The color scheme was inspired by Chinese traditional watercolor paintings known for their muted tones. The skins include avian details and feathers that can be seen in the animations.
The price and release date for the skins was not revealed.
This is the second World Championship skin for Rakan, but the first time he’s not accompanied by Xayah. In 2017, Samsung Galaxy bot duo Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in and Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk chose the loving duo for their World Championship skins.
Invictus Gaming made history in 2018 as the first Chinese team to win a World Championship title. The squad qualified to the event as the second seed from China’s LPL. Despite the positive domestic results, Invictus Gaming was not considered a frontrunner for the title. Instead, analysts and fans favored domestic rival Royal Never Give Up and Korea’s KT Rolster.
Invictus Gaming finished the group stage at Worlds with just one loss and successfully fended off the favorite KT Rolster in a five-game quarterfinal series. In the semifinals, Invictus Gaming took down G2 Esports to move on to the finals versus Fnatic.
Fnatic and Invictus Gaming split their two games played in the group stage, but in the final, the European squad had absolutely no chance. The three swift victories by Invictus Gaming showcased the players’ exemplary talents, particularly those of mid laner Song “Rookie” Eui-jin and top laner Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok.
Invictus Gaming is currently competing in the 2019 LPL Spring Split playoffs.
