Riot Games is going to continue creating new comic books based on League of Legends.

In a post on the LoL forum, writer Odin “WAAARGHbobo” Shafer revealed that, with the story of Lux now finished, the company will be working with Marvel Comics on three new series.

Riot has launched two comics series with Marvel Comics focused on Lux and Ashe. The series delved into the lore of the League of Legends universe and fleshed out the characters within it. The comics feature other characters aside from the titular heroes, with the Ashe: Warmother comic featuring Sejuani while Sylas, Garen, and Jarvan IV make appearances alongside Lux.

Both comic series have been enjoyed generally positive reviews, even from those not familiar with the League of Legends game.

In a developer diary video posted in January Riot explained that 2018 was the year of establishing the world of Runeterra, but 2019 will be the year of expanding the lore of the regions and the characters within it. In the video, Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street, Head of Riot’s Creative Development Team hinted at new ways fans can explore the lore of League of Legends:

“We’re excited to announce that one of the main goals this year will be to release physical and digital books. We’d love to use this type of writing to dive deep into the complex events and relationships between Runeterra and its Champions.”

WAAARGHbobo confirmed that the next comic will focus in on the Ionian assassin, Zed. It is set to launch later this year, though there is no official release date as of this writing. There will also be a novella that continues the story of the Demacian champions.

With all these projects moving forward, 2020 is set to be a big year for Riot Games as it continues to build League of Legends as a cross-media brand.

T1 exposes Karmine Corp with 3-0 win at League of Legends MSI 2026 Wasif Ahmed T1 just beat Karmine Corp 3-0 in the play-in stage of the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational. More importantly, T1 turned KC’s strengths into weaknesses. The bot lane and teamfight prowess that shone in the LEC were no match this time. The match started with Karmine Corp picking a disrespectful draft, blind picking three immobile squishies. Right off the bat, a botched invade put their jungle and bot lane at a disadvantage. ...
