Riot gives first look at new rework changes to Rammus ultimate
It’s now confirmed that Riot will be looking to give Rammus a small rework in League of Legends on the PC, as well as on Wild Rift for mobile.
2021 won’t only give fans new champions to play in League of Legends, but also improve some of the existingchampions that have been in the game for many years. One of them will be Rammus, who will see some changes to his ultimate Soaring Slam and Puncturing Taunt (E). The changes will help increase gameplay options for Rammus and improve clarity on both the VFX and SFX fronts.
As was revealed in the latest Quick Gameplay Thoughts by gameplay design director Mark “Scuffy” Yetter, Rammus will get an updated ultimate and some adjustments to his taunt to compensate for the stronger ultimate. His ultimate will now be a leap that slams down at a target location, dealing magic damage and slowing enemies. The leap will leave three aftershocks that also do damage. If that wasn’t enough, Rammus will be able to cast his ult during his Powerball (Q) to pull off some crazy combos.
Upcoming Rammus rework changes for LoL
Even though this is only a minor rework to Rammus, it looks like it will do him a lot of good. The ultimate itself will suddenly give Rammus a lot of playmaking potential and more options to combo his abilities. The ult will also be stronger than what he has now, which is why Riot will be toning down his Puncturing Taunt to balance everything out.
Soaring Slam (R) changes:
- Rammus leaps into the air and slams down at a target location, dealing magic damage and Slowing enemies for 1 second.
- If Soaring Slam is cast while Rammus is in Powerball, enemies near the center are also Knocked Up and take Powerball’s collision damage, ending Powerball’s effect.
- Rammus also generates 3 additional aftershocks at the target location, each one dealing a small amount of magic damage and refreshing the initial slow.
- Soaring Slam deals 200% damage to turrets.
- Soaring Slam’s range increased based on Rammus’ Move Speed.
- Cooldown :: 100/80/60 >>> 120/100/80 seconds
It’s still unknown when the Rammus changes will go live but it will be coming soon, according to Scuffy.
What role is Rammus?
Rammus is known to be a jungler because of his high speed and ability to make quick ganks. He is a tanky jungler that synergizes very well with armor and can lock down a target with his big taunt. Rammus has also been seen in the top lane in some previous patches, but it isn’t a position he is intended to succeed in.
Is Rammus good in LoL?
Rammus is a solid jungler for solo queue but is almost never seen in professional play. As of patch 11.1 in season 11, Rammus is sitting at a 51.49% win rate in the jungle. Even though Rammus currently has a great win rate, he is still a pretty outdated champion and does need a more modern touch.
