Riot Games answers questions on Clash, events in latest Ask Riot
In their latest
Ask Riot, Riot Games responded to questions surrounding the future of Clash, bonus game modes, and high-quality events like Odyssey.
As a followup to the NA Clash tests, Riot laid out their future plans. So far, the redesign and optimizations have been received well and Riot are looking to continue regional testing across the rest of the servers. These are anticipated to last until October.
If regional tests are successful, a global beta will be launched across several regions simultaneously. They hope to commence this launch by the start of the new year. Following a successful global beta, Clash will be ready for full launch.
Since the debut of Teamfight Tactics, Riot has put considerably less effort into events and limited-time game modes, with Twisted Treeline set to be discontinued at the end of season nine. However, after hearing community feedback, Riot admitted their desire to return to form on this front.
Events such as Odyssey and the game mode Odyssey: Extraction impressed League of Legends fans. Riot discussed wanting to bring back old modes and introduce new ones, while also integrating missions more deeply into events. They teased that these changes will be introduced very soon, during the upcoming 2019 League of Legends World Championship.
Latest Ask Riot still leaves plenty of questions
But despite Riot’s follow up on all these questions, several remain unanswered. One controversy Riot did not touch upon is the ever-increasing price of additional content, with the simultaneous decline in quality. Many in the community have been outraged at contemporary Legendary skins compared to those of the past.
Additionally, LCS production quality is falling by the wayside. The opening ceremony for the 2019 LCS Summer Finals is under especially intense scrutiny. Many feel that untested bands should not be hired for large events, even if that means having no live music at all.
Although this Ask Riot provided many answers, there are still plenty of mysteries when it comes to LoL’s future and plenty that fans are still left to wait for. 2019 has been a rough year for Riot, and that will likely persist until Season 10.
