Overwatch 2 is streaming a 2 hour look at PvP and more

Reading time: 2 min

In the first developer update given by Aaron Keller, he revealed that Overatch 2 is going to be streamed on May 20, featuring a closer look at its PvP action.

Since Overwatch 2 was announced in 2019, a lot of the focus on the game has been centered around the new story, new characters, new maps, and scenarios. Fans are excited for more lore and things to do in the Overwatch universe after its sequel releases, but many forget that PvP will also be impacted by the new game.

The livestream will be two hours long and will be available on YouTube and Twitch. Members of the Overwatch League and Overwatch 2 team will make appearances including Keller, lead designer Geoff Goodman, and associate art director Dion Rogers. Fans were promised a look at some new maps, and possibly balance or mechanics changes.

New maps, heroes, and lore will be added in Overwatch 2

Two new PvP maps have already been revealed. Rome and New York City have already been announced and fans have been given a small peek into the design.

There are also a plethora of new PvE maps that will appear in Overwatch 2. Each PvE mission will have its own map, although the number of PvE missions hasn’t been revealed to players yet. Three maps have already been announced, Gothenburg, a Torbjorn themed map, India and Toronto.

Overwatch 2 is getting a Reddit AMA

In addition to the two-hour stream provided by game developers, fans will get a chance to ask questions of the developers on May 24 when the Overwatch 2 staff do a Reddit AMA. Depending on what the team chooses to answer, more could be revealed in the AMA following the live stream.

Considering that the Overwatch 2 development team has shared with players that they are looking into some massive changes to player roles, fans can be sure that there are going to be some big and jarring changes. During BlizzConline, it was revealed that the tank class was being looked at for a major overhaul. Reinhardt, for example, may be given two Firestrike charges instead of one and will have better steering for his charge, and the ability to cancel it.

While no other specific character changes were mentioned, it is likely that there will be improvements and adjustments to other characters as well.

Keller has told fans that there will be more updates regarding PvP in Overwatch 2 coming later in the year as well.
