Origen is adding a new face to their roster for week 5 of the 2020 LEC Summer Split, following a shaky start to the split.

The team has acquired Jakub “Jactroll” Skurzyński to replace Mitchell “Destiny” Shaw in the support position. The move comes after a lackluster performance from Origen, who currently sit at fifth place in the LEC.

We are pleased to welcome @Jactroll as a 6th member of Origen ????

In the official statement from Origen, general manager Martin “Deficio” Lynge, explained some of the thoughts behind the addition.

We wanted a player with different strengths to supplement our current starters, to improve our roster for the 2nd half,” Deficio said

Deficio also mentioned why the teams went with Jactroll instead of some younger talent that they could potentially develop over a longer period of time.

“Jactroll is a player the coaches have followed for years. If we were going to add another member halfway through the regular season, then it had to be someone with LEC experience and clearly defined strengths & weaknesses,”

Jactroll return to the LEC after rocky time on Vitality

Jactroll is most known for his time in Vitality, qualifying the 2018 World Championship where the team almost made it out of the group stage before falling short with a loss to Cloud9. Jactroll was the starting support for Vitality up until this split, after placing last in the 2020 LEC Spring Split. Vitality have since then decided to start the former BIG player, Papoutsakis ”Labrov“ Labros, leaving Jactroll up for grabs.

The roster swap leaves Destiny on the bench after joining the team in November of last year. Destiny made history as the first Oceanic player to compete in the LEC. The future of Destiny is still unclear, but for now he will be acting as a secondary support for the team.

Destiny has been heavily criticized by the community for being the weak link in the team, but it’s not a guarantee that his replacement will be able to fix the fundamental problems that Origen has experienced in the recent weeks.

Origen has had some good games against the likes of G2, but has also faltered to teams that they should be able to beat, such as Vitality and SK Gaming. Both the individual skill level of the players and their general sense of the meta seem to be the team’s main struggle points.

Jactroll will make his debut against G2 Esports and Misfits Gaming in week 5 of the 2020 LEC Summer Split.
