Riot Games has partnered up with South Asian esports company Nodwin Gaming to add India and South Asia to the list of regions that will compete in the Valorant Champions Tour Grand Finals.

An official pathway to Valorant Champions Tour has been announced for India and South Asia, with the circuit being dubbed as the Valorant Conquerors Championship. The events will provide South Asian teams a chance to battle it out within their region to secure a spot at the finals.

The Valorant Champions Tour recently crowned its first world champion, with Sentinels taking the top prize at the expense of Fnatic. The finals peaked at over 1 million viewers between official and partnered streams, setting a new record for viewership of Riot’s shooter.

However, a few regions couldn’t showcase their top talent in the previous stages. South Asia was one of the regions with no representation in Rejkyavik, but the recent announcement will see that in future events.

“We at Riot Games have been listening to our fanbase in South Asia and the growing demand to include the region in our VCT 2021 roadmap. This is our first step in unlocking esports for the region,” said Sukamal Pegu of Riot Games.

Valorant esports has been thriving in the South Asian region since the beta release of the game. There have been plenty of major events in the area with the developer’s direct involvement, including the Jazba Cup. However, teams still weren’t offered a pathway to qualify for Valorant’s biggest event so far.

Valorant Conquerors Championship registration date

Teams aiming to play in the Valorant Champions Tour can register for Conquerors Championship from June 15 onwards. According to the press release, all teams looking for a shot will need to work their way through sub-regional qualifiers, which will have a prize pool of $33,000. The winner will secure a slot at the APAC Last Chance Qualifier which offers a spot in the Valorant Champions Tour 2021.

There will be six sub-regions including:

  1. India
  2. Pakistan and Afghanistan
  3. Sri Lanka & Maldives
  4. Bangladesh
  5. Nepal & Bhutan
  6. Wildcard

Teams can register themselves through an online process. Each region will be provided with a fixed number of slots. Online qualifiers will lead to playoffs, and then teams will be seeded for the grand finals. The winners will lock horns with South Asian, Korean, and Japanese teams at APAC Last Chance Qualifier.
