Gears of Wars Netflix

Deadly giants dubbed Locust Horde are coming to Netflix in the streaming company’s adaptation of Gears of War.

Initially released in November 2006, Gears of War has garnered a massive fanbase that jumped on all new installments. Since the Xbox 360 days, Gears of Wars has remained a staple for shooter games fans who don’t mind a bit of gore and warfare. It’s a classic title that many film-making companies have eyed in the past. However, Gears of Wars never ended up on the big screen. Netflix might change that.

On the game’s 16th anniversary, the streaming service announced its partnering with The Coalition to adapt the Gears of War video game saga into a live-action feature film.

Gears of War

Besides spin-offs, Gears has five installments, with most having Marcus Fenix at the center, fending off the Locust Horde to keep humanity alive. The sci-fi game developer hasn’t released a new title since 2020, so this news is a big one for the shooter games’ fans who have hoped to see Marcus Fenix, Delta Squad, and the subterranean reptilian hominids known as the Locust Horde on their screens. The adaptation might be filled with gore, fierce weapons, and chainsaws, but that’s precisely what the fans have been looking forward to.

Previous Netflix adaptations of video games have been massive successes. From Resident Evil and Witcher to Pokemon and Arcane, all titles have received a positive response from the fans. It’s evident that video game enthusiasts enjoy watching their favorite characters going through regular ups and downs of life, except with massive chainsaws.

The developer has yet to reveal more details, but the final product might take a couple of years. Of course, this is just an announcement, and more involved parties, from filmmakers to cast, will be announced soon. But just the teaser has left the fans wanting more.
