League of Legends, Fortnite, Apex Legends among best earners on PC
League of Legends was ranked as the world’s second highest grossing PC game of February 2019.
The information provided by SuperData Research also placed Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Dota 2 in the top 10 highest earning games. Fortnite and Apex Legends did double duty, appearing on both the PC and console listings.
League of Legends formerly occupied the top spot in the rankings, but recently lost it to 2D beat-em-up title Dungeon Fighter Online.
Fortnite appeared at number five on the top earning PC game list, though it ranked higher on the console list in second place. FIFA 19 was at the top spot for all console games.
Fortnite had the highest yearly revenue across all platforms in 2018 at an incredible $2.4 billion. This made it the highest grossing game of all-time, and with its current positions on both console and PC charts in the new year, Epic Games seems poised to continue to rake in money with its popular battle royale.
Like Fortnite, Apex Legends appeared on the top grossing lists for both PC and Console. On PC, Apex ranked at number six, just behind Fortnite. On console, Apex Legends placed a bit higher as the fourth highest earning title.
According to SuperData, Apex Legends made more money in its first month than any other free-to-play game in history. The game generated approximately $92 million from in-game sales in February alone. Numbers for March are expected to be even higher, as the figure does not include sales from the release of the game’s first ever battle pass.
Valve’s popular MOBA Dota 2 also featured on the PC list, ranking at number eight. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 came in at number 10 on the console list, while PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile took position six on the list of high grossing mobile games.
